Arrived home and sat on the couch in anticipation. Funny when KO stumbled his lines during the switch over to RM. Appears either he was flustered from Palin's straight talk with God or was nervous of how RM will do tonite. Rachel did a good job. Hard to grade someone and her show based on their first performance when there is so much potential and some room for improvement.
Here is the run down over the flip
Cons
- Those gaudy spiraling British flag colors were too distracting.
- Pop culture segment was a dud. MTV awards? Seemed out of place indexed in with the other segments.
- Pat Buchanan slamming Rev. Wright down our gullets to counter Palin's preacher in closing. Rachel didn't counter. Then he smiled in the end which was creepy followed by Rachel nodding with a smile. Weird unsettling brief moment.
Pros
- Rachel held her ground with "Uncle Pat" and effectively hammered the separation of chruch and state. Best line "I would love to ask Palin" that question. Pat might have come across as losing his temper in the end bringing up Wright, going off tangent. Rachel smiled and closed out the segment smooth and classy.
- Segment on Palin's fervent religions beliefs (God wanted the...pipeline, Iraq, a pony...) coupled with the guest preacher went well. She expressed the church/state issue clearly and doubts of how Palin's unknown quality (especially her religions beliefs) casts a shadow on her judgement if she was to become President. The guest preacher was able to volley the questions and responses back forth like an engaging tennis match and find out what happens.
My grade would be a B+. Harsh grade? Well add your thoughts below on the Pros and Cons of Rachel's show.
